Help:Adding a new character
The button below creates a new character page already filled in with the right headings and a blank infobox. You write into the gaps.
What to put where
The blank page arrives with headings already in place. You do not have to fill in all of them, and you can delete any that do not apply.
- The infobox
- The box of facts at the top right. Fill in what you know and leave the rest blank. Empty fields disappear on their own rather than showing as gaps.
- First sentence
- Bold the character's name, then say who they are in one line. Imagine a reader who has never opened the books.
- Appearance, Personality, Background
- Description that is true across the whole series.
- Story
- What actually happens to them, book by book.
- Relationships
- One short paragraph per important person, linked.
- Behind the scenes
- Anything about the writing rather than the world. Optional, and the only place where out-of-universe comments belong.
Naming the page
Use the character's full name: Tabitha Glowdish, not Tab. Nicknames still work as links, because we set up redirects for them. Typing [[Tab]] will land the reader in the right place.
If a character only ever has one name, that one name is the title.
