Galecrest is the kingdom of Air: a silver city that floats in the sky on chains, ruled by the dragon shifter Millennium Loftwind. It comes down to earth only once, at the High Moon Festival, settling into the meadow at the foot of a mountain range.
The city
Silver buildings under white snow, spires reaching into low cloud, and several dozen windmills. The main street is hung with gold balloons and banners. A red brick plaza holds a gold dragon statue four storeys high.
Dragons ordinarily move through the clouds overhead as red, blue and green blurs. When they cannot fly, the city is worked by lift: an old wooden cage on cables as thick as tree trunks.
The Eslurian Opera House
A vast marble building ringed with columns, two golden dragons on either side of the roof with their wings thrown high. Barnaby Britto dreamed of seeing it his whole life.
The library
On the square. Its roof was partly brought down by the earthquake in Book 1. Seely was last seen heading for it.
Millennium's castle
The Ruler's castle stands on a hill above the city, high-gabled, with a balcony overlooking everything. Each new moon Millennium hosts the little dragons (the children) for story time.
Government
Millennium's Sacred Guard wear grey robes and dragon-horned masks. Ferhant commands them.
