The Book of Fire is the Sacred Book of Zybersia. Its Heart was torn out by Demise on Obellius Kalaar's orders, the theft that begins the crisis of the series.[1] Without its Heart the Book cannot float; it lies on the floor of its Chamber with a hole the size of a basketball in its spine.
The stolen Heart
The loss was felt across all of Eslura at once. The dragons of Galecrest lost their fire. Alistair Archibald connects Obellius's fire-red irises directly to the missing Heart.[2] The Heart has not been recovered.
Its Rulers
Elmryn held the Book before his murder. His daughter Reagan Hideaway, raised on Earth and told her parents died in a car wreck, was chosen by it in the Sacred Chamber beneath his castle. Her hand was caught fast against it, white lightning ran up her arm, everything went red, and fire came out of her palms.[3]
She is Eslurian by blood through her father, which is why the Book could choose her at all.
The Chamber
The walls of the Sacred Chamber in Zybersia carry a painted map of Eslura's tunnel network. Every line on it leads to The Sacred City.[4]
