Blighburrow is the kingdom of Land, ruled by Alistair Archibald, and home to Gewa — the first sacred tree, in whose trunk the Book of Land is kept.
The city
Blighburrow is nearly invisible from above. Its roofs are gardens, and Gewa's canopy shields the whole city from direct sun, so that what one notices first is not buildings but green.
A glass tunnel runs hundreds of feet above the rooftops toward Gewa's trunk, and it is by this that visitors reach the Hollow of Gewa, the Sacred Chamber inside the tree. There is a greenhouse room given over entirely to plants.
Gewa
Gewa is enormous. Green light seeps from the veins in her bark, and the Book of Land's energy travels through those veins and down her roots into every part of Eslura. She is not merely where the Book is stored; she is how it reaches the world.
Government
Alistair rules from Blighburrow, and the old troll Nordwelg keeps him company there — pipe permanently between his teeth, overalls permanently paint-stained. Alistair's Sacred Guard wear green cloaks and wooden masks with emerald eyes.
Alistair's florahorse Kuma is stabled here.
Notable events
It is at Blighburrow that Beatrice Tidal first touches the Book of Land, and her Sacred symbol — darkened to brown after Demise clawed her wrist — recovers to a rusty orange.[1]
