Ovallia is the kingdom of Water, ruled by Lumikki Otsby from a lighthouse on the shore. It is the brightest and busiest of the four kingdoms, and the only one joined to mainland Eslura by a bridge.

The city

The bridge into Ovallia carries a statue of Bellbour Polindrad, the first Sacred Ruler of the Book of Water. Beyond it the sky is described as sparkling, and the market square stands on marble columns. Fishermen work the docks below, among wicker huts along the beach.

The Bellbour's Strait runs nearby, with rapids too violent for even fish to survive.

The lighthouse

Over a hundred feet of marble ringed in blue, topped by a gleaming metal cupola. Lumikki lives here, and the Book of Water is kept inside. The sea serpent Trelluby is usually to be found clinging to the outer wall, full of gossip.

Tide Tale Alley Books

Pemadee's bookshop, in an alley off the main square. Barnaby Britto spent his entire life inside it, under a contract between Pemadee and Lumikki that he never leave, a promise meant to keep the last free Olphin alive.

Invasion

Ovallia is invaded by Nelazgians in Book 2. Pemadee is taken prisoner, and manages to get word out to Barnaby by gully before he is.[1]

Government

Lumikki's Sacred Guard wear blue uniforms and face masks covered in seashells.
